Using KMPlayer with films taken on Canon sx30 and sx40 it is much more versatile than the one supplied by Canon, or even Irfan View, which I like a lot. That KMPlayer allows me to zoom in on parts of the film is super, and easily change brightness, etc.
That I can also easily strip the sound track off a film, letting me keep much smaller copies of bird-song when the film itself is not worth keeping, or again keep much smaller voice comments without the attached film (on these cameras voice recordings can only be made by making a film!)
It just seems in a completely different league - in a positive direction! - from other video programs I have used.
Best:
Zoom facility is the biggest plus, but easy sound track stripping is also really handy, and automatically playing the next film in the folder. Everything so far I have wanted, in a relatively small program without the incredible bloat and fancy time-consuming and impractical and slow moving menus etc that Windows and other big producers provide, and from what I have seen of the menus at least a 100 times more versatile as well! AND friendly and SO easy to use. What more could one ask?!
Worst:
No keyboard shortcuts for Gamma, and the colour changing menu seems (tho I may be wrong!) only accessible about 3 menus in.
